Parking and Storage Guide

How parking is arranged in urban town communities, what to confirm before you sign, and how to plan for storage and EV charging.

Parking arrangements for Countryside Urban Towns are Not Yet Released. Because parking is one of the details that can differ unit to unit within the same community, it belongs near the top of your launch-day question list.

The common arrangements

Confirm the legal status

In a condominium, a parking space may be part of your unit, a separate unit you own, or an exclusive-use common element assigned to you. That distinction affects what you can sell, rent out or alter, and it is set out in the declaration — worth asking about specifically rather than assuming.

Visitor parking is a real quality-of-life issue

Ask how many visitor spaces the site has relative to the number of homes, and what the rules are — time limits, permits, enforcement. In dense town communities this is one of the most frequent sources of friction between neighbours.

Electric vehicle charging

If you drive electric now or expect to, ask whether rough-in or charging capacity is provided, and what the process is for installing a charger later. Ontario's condominium framework includes a process for owners to request EV charging installations, but the practical answer depends on the building's electrical capacity — much easier to confirm before you buy.

Storage

Multi-level towns are often short on the kind of storage a basement provides. Look for a utility room with spare footprint, under-stair space, a garage with room beyond the car, and closet depth on the plan. Then ask whether any dedicated storage is offered.

Ask early

Register for priority access and raise parking in your VIP Review so the answer arrives with the plans.
